Festival News: Langerado lineup announced…finally

Feel free to call shenanigans on me…though a day late, the Langerado lineup was announced, as promised last night, at 11:05 EST this morning.

Featuring Death Cab for Cutie, Thievery Corporation, and Snoop Dogg as headliners, the festival has acted on their promise to diversify 2009’s lineup. In an interview with Billboard.com, promoter Ethan Schwartz stated that the seventh year of the festival would feature approximately sixty artists on four stages. Schwartz also said, “From who we’ve booked so far it’s going to be really fresh…I would say that 75%-80% of the bands have never played the festival before.”

The festival’s lineup so far also includes high-profile acts like the Disco Biscuits, Cold War Kids, Against Me!, Matisyahu, Gym Class Heroes, and mashup sensation Girl Talk. Artists to look out for include Umphrey’s McGee, Florida natives The Heavy Pets, Lotus, and The Egg.

The full lineup:

  1. Can someone say “sell out”? I’m sorry, but I’ve never seen a festival line-up so catered to spring break bros and hos in my life. If that’s what they’re going for, good for them, but it’s really changing the entire dynamic of the festival which is a pity. And it’s not just that all festivals have to be jam-heavy. APW did a fantastic job catering to a particularly crowd, and even Lollapalooza can manage to book pop-radio bands and not make it tacky. The Lang lineup is like taking throw-back Top ’40s from my early high-school days and mashing them with “festival staples” who by default look really cheap and stereotypical.

In all fairness, it IS refreshing to see BSS and King Khan playing a huge event. I love seeing their names on festival bills.

I can see it now though …
girl: brad can we pleeeeeeeeeeeeease stay for the dashboard’s set?!?! they haven’t played my song! (swigs rum and coke and croans “screaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaming infidelities!” giggles, and hiccups.)
boy: are you effing kidding me?!?! we been here for like TWO HOURS, yo. i needa see me some MATIIIIIIIIS!
    girl: omg ew. whatever.
boy: yo, what IS that over there? is that effing IRISH MUSIK or some shiz? ugh, i needa drink, yo.
